Elba 8 West

The West Loop is the most challenging route of the trip, but one you won't forget. Contrary to calculations, there are only 1,200 meters of elevation gain over 74 km. Until Marina di Campo, we are somewhat plagued by traffic and an initial climb. After that, it goes long and peaceful along the coast with great views. Small towns, beautiful beaches, and lots of nature. We look for a nice picnic spot with a sea view. Then a longer ascent to Marciano, then steeply down to the east coast. From Procchio, civilization returns to us, and from Portoferraio, so does the traffic.
