About this route
Take the bus line 342 from Los Christianos to Portillo at the end of the Teide high plateau. From there, ascend about 250m on asphalt to a nook where the gravel path begins (blocked by a barrier!). After that, enjoy the view of the Teide and the high plateau (Canadas) as you ride uphill in the gravel, before turning left onto a very bumpy gravel road that becomes coarser. A full-suspension MTB with a minimum of 120mm travel is advisable (the more, the better); you can ride into Barranco del Rio as a good riding technician, but there is no choice but to push and carry out.
