Highlights Along The Route

Point of Interest

TRIGLAV AND ITS NORTH FACE. Some 200m from the parking place the road ends at Aljažev dom (1,015m). This is the starting point for mountaineering routes to Triglav, highest mountain in Slovenia. The North Face is one of the mightiest mountain walls in the Alps. Its great width (3km) and height (about 1000m) make a deep and special impression.

Point of Interest

PERICNIK WATERFALL. On the way to the Vrata valley there is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Slovenia.There are two waterfalls; the upper one is 16m and the lower one 52m high. From the mountain hut Koča pri Peričniku, which offers refreshments, it takes 10-15min to reach the bottom of the falls, and you can walk behind the waterfall and admire it from an unusual direction!

SLOVENE ALPINE MUSEUM. A rich collection of items with diverse historical stories, fascinating photographic and archive material, and a comprehensive choice of booklets give the visitor an opportunity to grasp the popularity and importance of mountaineering in Slovenia, past and present. The permanent exhibition is based on the concept of a museum story, which we experience as if we were climbing a mountain.
