Ueber den Monte Perone

I keep dreading this route again and again, and each time after I feel like a little hero :) The climb to Monte Perone is, in my opinion, a tough piece of work. Those who want to shorten the route after the climb have 2 options. 1) Simply turn around at the top of Monte Perone :) 2) At Proccio, turn right towards Campo nell'Elba and back to Lacona. However, for the second shortcut, it should be said that you then have to haul yourself back over the first mountain, where the afternoon sun really burns your back. On the climb up to Monte Perone, there is a small water source around halfway up, where you can and should refill your bottles :) Of course, you can also conquer Monte Perone from the other side, which I find easier because it doesn't have such steep sections. The incline there is steady and therefore more pleasant to ride. But I usually prefer this direction and slope, not because I like pain, but because the view from there is simply AMAZING, and I can concentrate much more on the climb... which is not the case on the way down!!
