Schleife 1A - Nordals

Nordalsen is a unique natural area. Your route runs here through authentic and untouched nature, where many rare plant and animal species thrive.

Nordalsen is particularly known for its numerous freshwater lakes. Three of the lakes – Oldenor Sø, Mjels Sø, and Bundsø – were drained and cultivated in the past, but they have since been renaturalized and are once again home to a rich variety of birds and wildlife. By the lakes, you can observe, among others, Greylag geese, cormorants, herons, mallards, diving ducks, kingfishers, mergansers, scaup ducks, water rails, and singing swans – and it even happens that a sea eagle soars over the lakes.
