5. nap (Sankt Pölten-Bécs)

Day 5 – July 28, 2017, Friday (79 km)

Mariazell – We cycle along the Traisentalradweg, a bike path running through the Traisen River valley, heading towards Sankt Pölten, following the bike route signs! – We leave Mariazell on the main road 21 – after 3 km we turn left off the main road – Kernhof – Sankt Aegyd am Neuwalde – this is where the Traisen River originates; from here we follow the stream (and then river) – Hohenberg – Furthof – Freiland – here we return to the main road 20, which we travelled on Thursday – Schrambach – Stangental – Lilienfeld – Marktl – Traisen – Rotheau – Göblasbruck – Sonnenberg – Wilhelmsburg – we pass under the A1 motorway – Sankt Pölten – Our accommodation is located in the city centre, next to the main train station (Hauptbahnhof) in a youth hostel. In town, the Traisentalradweg runs directly along the riverbank; turning left onto Wiener Straße or the Westbahnallee along the railway leads to the train station.
