Laggintal e Stockalperweg da Gondo

This is a cycle-tourist itinerary based on an old roadbook by Ronzinante that is still available at the link next to it.

Since the description made in 2008 by Ronzinante is already very exhaustive, I will only add a few of my notes in addition to the GPX track (and the mapping of the trails on OSM/OCM that were not previously available).

• In my opinion, Ronzinante's judgment is too harsh. A biker with good fitness and excellent technique, both uphill and downhill (so not me), can do almost everything in the saddle except for short sections to overcome the numerous rocky outcrops. This all brings great satisfaction.

• The loop is unknown in MTB practice, confirmed by the mountain dwellers of the hut on the left, just after the cross of the Furggu pass.

• It's a beautiful tour, let's just say that a good part of the traverse and all the altitude over 2000m up to Obre Stafel are located right in the front row with respect to the Sempione triptych. Therefore, it should be done on clear and transparent days.

• As is always the case in the Gondo gorges, the altitude profile is completely distorted due to multiple reflections of the GPS signal on the vertical rock walls.

• After crossing the bridge over the Lagina stream, according to the Swiss map, there should be a short track to the right leading to the huts of Ussre Laggin without having to immediately climb up to the Laggintal road. I didn't find it and didn't feel like searching further, so I pushed my bike up, but it would be useful to know if it still exists and if it is passable by MTB.

• The attached GPX track avoids some metal stairs in the Gondo gorges and the entire tunnel of the fortress as well as the related landslide on the way out. This is because doing them once is a bit boring and has nothing to do with the rest of the tour. Then, de gustibus...
