PERCORSO DEL BOSCO AVERTO

A cycling route starting in Grado, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Italy.

Overview

About this route

Starting from the visitor center towards the locality of Fossalon, near the cemetery you turn left onto a dirt road, the so-called Strada Bissa, the only internal road with a winding course. In this way, you skirt the dense Averto forest, composed almost exclusively of elms, which provide refuge for numerous roe deer and rest for water birds (mallards, gadwalls, coots, and moorhens) that, especially in the winter season, abound in the waters of the homonymous canal. In some points along the route, crossing the dense undergrowth along some barely marked paths, it is possible to enjoy suggestive landscapes and, by skillfully approaching in silence, observe the characteristic birdlife of this part of the Reserve. Upon reaching the end of the forest, at the edge of the Reserve, you continue to the provincial road and, subsequently turning left twice, you reach via Valle which will take us back to the intersection with via Grado and the Visitor Center.
