Von Oriago nach Venedig

Cycling to Venice -- it's possible! As of August 2017, there is a new, not yet fully completed bike path that leads from the industrial area in Mestre across the bridge to Venice. Barely signposted, you have to search a bit until you find it. To save other cyclists the search, I am uploading the track.

It starts just behind Oriago, where you can easily overnight at a campsite right by the Brenta Canal (which is also worth seeing by bike towards Padua), and ends at the train station in Venice. By the way, this is the only place in Venice where you can go by bike.

The route goes through the industrial area in Mestre, where you will also encounter some trucks. However, you pass right by the shipyard -- quite impressive. The motorway is briefly touched, but on a separate footpath. We rode with our boys (aged 8 to 15 years) and found it quite suitable.
