La strada continua a salire leggermente fino a Cantiano, Cagli, poi Acqualagna e Furlo. Per attraversare la Gola del Furlo la strada s'impenna decisamente per circa 3 km, poi inizia a degradare verso il mare, seguendo il corso del fiume Metauro.  Si passa per Fossombrone e si raggiunge Fano.
