Velilla Rio Carrión ¨- Potes

Start in Velilla, on the road that usually has little traffic and leads into the Picos de Europa.

Shortly after starting the route, you climb the Alto de las Portillas, then descend and climb the Alto de los Picones again. These climbs are manageable and serve to warm up. You reach Boca de Huérgano, and the terrain is rugged with continuous ups and downs until you arrive at Llanáves de la Reina where the ascent to San Glorio begins. The Leonese part is gentler than the Cantabrian side but still challenging, especially in the gorge area. Once you summit, everything left to Potes is downhill or on favorable terrain. Be careful on the descent.

Route accessible if moderately prepared and offering spectacular landscapes.
