Ride to Kalkriese along the canal. Climb the 'Schmittenhöhe' and then reach an observation tower. Continue your ride to the Muserum and Park Kalkriese and cross the Mittellandkanal. Now make a detour around the golf club before heading back. From Lappenstuhl, the return will be on side roads.

Neu-Barenau and Alt-Barenau are just slightly off the route, making a detour both short and worthwhile.

Anyone who wants can skip the detour via Schmittenhöhe and the detour around the golf club, saving about 10 km.

    Die Abfahrt "Burlager Weg" zur B218 ist steil und gefährlich! 1. relativ schmal und unübersichtlich 2. entgegenkommende PKW 3. Schotter und kleine Steine am Rande 4. die B218 ist erst spät erkennbar Daher empfiehlt es sich sehr gute Bremsen zu haben und die Höchstgeschwindigkeit auf 50-55km/h zu begrenzen. Felgenbremsen werden dabei gut warm. Scheibenbremsen?
