Ruta del agua [Zona Restringida]

La Ruta del Agua is an alternative tourist itinerary promoted by the Town Hall of Guillena, with the collaboration of various administrations, taking advantage of the enormous benefits provided by the natural environment and betting on ecological, sustainable, and endogenous development. Of the 68 kilometers it covers - starting at El Carambolo and ending at the Serrano Lakes at the municipal limit of the Villa - 14 kilometers of the path are restricted zone, where you'll find one of the areas of highest ecological interest, which can only be traversed on foot, on horseback, or in authorized 4x4 vehicles. This place is known as the Restricted Section, which begins after the Gergal reservoir and reaches La Cantina set up as a resting area. Our route travels through landscapes that are certainly unknown to you. Allow us to explain. Along the Route flow the banks of Huelva and Cala, where the reservoirs of El Gergal and Cala are located, in addition to the reverse reservoir of Guillena, which supply energy and drinking water to Seville and its metropolitan area. We are talking about more than one million two hundred thousand people. This area has been considered of vital and strategic importance for the province, a circumstance that has caused this part of Seville, in the term of Guillena, to hold a great natural treasure, with an environmental wealth that is available in few natural areas. The native flora and fauna make this place a natural museum where you will be fascinated by the abundance of nature, a wealth of colors, sounds, and aromas. It is this set, especially the water resources, that enables the creation of an alternative natural tourist route. In an effort to conserve natural spaces, and with the desire to enjoy the environmental wealth, the Ruta del Agua has provided the necessary infrastructure for you to discover the scenic beauty of the first foothills of Sierra Morena. Along the way, sixteen resting areas have been defined, where shelters, viewpoints, picnic areas, stops, tables, benches, bins, and informative signs have been installed, in addition to a bar-restaurant, which offers services, a souvenir shop, barbecues, and supervised wild camping. In short, a path full of surprises, where you can find old railway stations, reservoirs, villages, farmhouses, palaces, prehistoric remains, lakes, etc.
