Mattsee - Wallersee Kräuter-Runde

From Mattsee we ride towards the Wallersee. Along the lakeside, we ride all the way to Seekirchen.

On the hill, the Seeburg castle is already visible. This is where the first herb garden station is located, in the castle garden.

Across meadows with views of the Wallersee, we head back a bit – via Fischtagging, the Fenningerspitz campsite, to the Henndorfer beach in Seebrunn (signposted Wallersee Circular Route). From the beach, we follow Wallerseestraße and then turn onto Carl-Zuckmayer-Weg, where shortly after we pass the "Wiesmühl" – the former home of Carl Zuckmayer. A short, steep stretch awaits us when turning into Caspar-Moser-Gasse.

After passing the EDZ (shopping and service centre), we now reach the Pavilion of Scents – these wonderfully aromatic herbs delight the senses and invite us to dream. Opposite the municipal office, we turn into Peterbauerweg and then follow the signposts for the "Zuckmayer Cycling Route," which leads us along quiet side streets through Ölling, St. Brigida, Haslach, onward to Neumarkt.

In Wertheim is the next station for Neumarkt: at the Trapp nursery is the herb garden in pots – perhaps an idea worth copying.

We now ride towards Köstendorf into the village centre. The Seelenbräugarten at Dechanthof is located above the church, maintained as a community project and invites you to linger.

Afterwards, we return to Mattsee.
