MdLC Navia Vuelta Ancares piedrafita

This is a top-level route, but in exchange, it will give us an idea of real lost zones, remote yet with beautiful landscapes and a delight to ride through on a bike.

Leaving from Navia, we will head through the valley towards Becerrea. Before arriving, we will detour towards Pontes de Gatin and via a very nice rural road, we will take a shortcut to the old NVI very close to As Nogais.

From here we will face the Alto de Vilasol, a pass with a good number of kilometers among which are some quite significant. Forests and pastures with almost no traffic.

The descent is a marvel along the river Navia via a winding road of great beauty (truly like few others). After crossing the river, we will tackle the ascent to Cebreiro via Fonteferreira, a county road with a good and steep ascent that will leave us near the village.

Here it is mandatory to take a break to contemplate the entry gate to Galicia of the Camino de Santiago and stroll through its streets.

From here we will descend to Piedrafita and through the Alto del Comeal to Portelo.

From here we will descend to the village of Doiras where we will admire the medieval castle.

From here a long and gentle climb leads us to Degrada.

We will head towards Piornedo, not before stopping to appreciate the spectacular view of the valley of the river Ser.

Already in Piornedo, a must-visit to this famous mountain village and its pallozas.

Then, following the river Ser and again on a truly beautiful road that includes gorges, the last difficulty of the day, Alto de las Laviadas through Vilaquinte. A last glance at the viewpoint at what we have left behind and descent towards Navia de Suarna to contemplate this route that will have brought us closer to knowing a great part of the area.
