In MTB alle cascate del Vo'

We leave the car in one of the many parking lots near the village and make our way to the central square of Schilpario, where our route will begin. With the church behind us, we set off to the left along Via Torri, then deviate uphill to the right onto Via Soliva. We follow it all the way until it becomes unpaved and proceed through the woods with scenic views of the village of Schilpario. We encounter the bed of a small stream, which we descend laterally until we can turn left and cross. Another unpaved stretch brings us back to the asphalt. A few meters further on, keeping to the left, we take the unpaved path again.

Entering the woods, at the first fork just after a small bridge and before the evident climb, we take the right path to descend, which crosses the asphalt again. We follow Via S. Elisabetta downhill, cross the S.P. 294 until we reach the Alpine Rescue headquarters and turn left onto the Nordic skiing trail bed. We cross a grate over the stream and take the unpaved path the borders the woods to the left. Once we arrive at the overpass, we faithfully follow the unpaved path keeping to the right until we again reach asphalt after a flat section.

We follow the asphalt, Via Grumello and then Via Paradiso, we go left into Via Trampolino and follow the cemented road alongside the building with the pointed roof and then take a right into a downhill path. Upon reaching the hollow, we cross the small bridge and turn left, climbing for ten minutes; at the next fork, we go right. We pass over the arrival station of an old ski lift, continue through a series of ups and downs in the woods, and pass over a basin meadow, at the end of which we turn right downhill. At the small bridge, we proceed left, passing over the large pink building and the small settlement of Pradella, at the end of which we descend to the right until we reach the asphalt.

Here we find a fountain and a little distance away the mineral museum near the Hotel San Marco. We walk to the right along the village on the asphalt and after about 100 meters from the votive chapel, we take the left path that descends towards the river. Reached the torrente, we find ourselves at the most complicated point to take the path on the opposite side.

BE CAREFUL. Passing over the crossing is very often dry or near the lower weirs, proceed straight until the path is found again, we keep to the left and resume climbing until we reach the church of Barzesto. We pass the church, and turn left onto Via Barzesto until we reach the stop at the playground. We go left for about 100 meters, then take the right unpaved road uphill and keep again to the right following the path cut between dry stone walls. This section of the path forces us to push the MTB for about ten minutes.

At the first fork, we go down right along a dirt road, at the first bend we leave it by going left, at the next fork we go left regaining height, at the next we go right passing over the usually dry hollow and faithfully following the path. After a few hundred meters, arriving at the ruins of an old farmhouse, we turn right. We follow the straight descent. At the intersection, we go left, moving into the Vò valley.

We alternate pastures and woods until we reach a wildlife observation point built on the trees. We keep to the right and descend toward the stream and cross it on a beautiful wooden bridge. We then proceed temporarily to the left to admire the wonderful waterfall of Vò and the old mineral smelting furnace. From here, we just have to faithfully follow the dirt road in a gentle descent. We pass the charcoal pit, and at the end of the dirt, near the restaurant Chalet del Vò, we enter the asphalt until we reach the intersection with the S.S. 294 road. We go left uphill and follow the main road to the center of Schilpario until the starting point.
