SI Loop
Cycling route
Overview
About this route
About a 20 mile loop. I do the ride clockwise. Passes the Staten Island Ferry so that can be the starting point. Follows the waterfront for almost half of the trip. Points of interest include Alice Austen House, Fort Wadsworth and the entire length of the boardwalk. There is a bike path on the boardwalk and a paved one on the land side. Historic Richmondtown is on your right on Clarke Avenue and just past the intersection of Clarke Avenue and Richmond Road is a left into St. Andrews parking lot and the entrance to LaTourette Park. The trail in the park is mostly gravel. When you exit the park at Richmond Avenue there is a wide road to cross with no dedicated signal so watch for turning vehicles. An off road path passes the mall and turns into the woods at Travis Avenue. There are short paved paths in Willowbrook Park and Snug Harbor.
