South of Forster, Lakes Way is much quieter. It's also completely flat as far as Booti Booti NP and has a shoulder, albeit fairly narrow, most of the way to Bungwahl. There we turned off onto the road to Seal Rocks, then into Myall Lakes National Park. The well-maintained NP management trail is a delightful ride, being flat, well-maintained and closed to general traffic. The only vehicles we met were from National Parks or other cyclists. The Old Gibber trail diverges from the old mining rd at about 11 km. It is important to follow the Gibber trail because the alternative road is not maintained up to its junction with the Hawks Nest Rd and many a cyclist taking the wrong road has battled sand and an overgrown track. If riding this route in the opposite direction, it is important to stay on Mungo Brush rd until reaching Boomeri campsite.
