Frankenberg-Augustusburg Rundtour

The first part along the Zschopau is very picturesque through the river valley. If you are lucky, you might see the kingfisher. The path is rocky and sometimes wet - a mountain bike is nice, but a standard touring bike works too. In Flöha there is no good signage - you have to improvise, but you can almost always stay by the Zschopau until the Flöha merges. Shortly after, there is a railway bridge underneath which hangs a pedestrian and cyclist bridge. On the other side, you can now consistently follow the Flöha up to the S237 in Falkenau. On this road, you ride until Hohenfichte. The climb to Augustusburg is challenging, but it is the only real uphill stretch. After that, you can reward yourself in one of the many cafés for your efforts. Classic is Café Friedrich. The return trip is almost all downhill and can be done very quickly. Only from Flöha to Altenhain you have to pedal a bit more.
