Tour delle Malghe

Very scenic and challenging route that, from Monte Spinale, via dirt roads and mule tracks, visits the scattered mountain huts around the Campo Carlo Magno pass.

From Piazza Brenta Alta (Madonna di Campiglio), descend right towards Piazza Righi, then continue along Via Monte Spinale where, at the first roundabout, turn left to reach the Spinale cable car. The view from Monte Spinale is priceless: 360° panorama stretching north towards the mountains of Val di Sole and northern Brenta, east to the Grostè pass and the central Brenta group, south to Doss del Sabion and Val Rendena, west towards the Adamello-Presanella mountain group with the Ortler-Cevedale group in the background. Follow the dirt road descending northeast along the slope; at the first junction keep right where the road levels for about 200m, then it continues downhill to the valley station of the Boch Express chairlift. At the crossroads, keep left, descend passing the valley station of the Rododendro chairlift, continue on the dirt road which, after a narrow and steep stretch through the woods, reaches a fork. Keep right onto the white road which rises slightly to Malga Vaglianella. At the hairpin just before the hut, leave the dirt road to take a mule track continuing north through the woods, until it returns to a road which, with a sharp left curve, bends south to Malga Mondifrà.

At the fork opposite the hut, turn right to descend along the old Val Meledrio road which you follow for about 2.5km to the locality of Prà del Mazza. Turn left to reach the ss239 where you turn right to continue for about 1.5km until the left fork for Malga Dimaro. Follow the asphalt road climbing in switchbacks up to the hut, where you turn left on the mule track that leads to Malga Darè.

Continue on the dirt road for about 1.5km, turn right on ss239, proceed to Rio Falzè. Turn right on a dirt road which continues first flat to the bridge, then up concrete ramps to Malga Vigo. Continue towards the facilities and, after the bridge, turn left on a dirt road which, after about 1.5km, must be left to turn right onto a technical trail running through mud and roots. At the end of the trail turn left and, after the bridge, at the fork turn right following the road in the middle of the ski slope.

At a crossroads go straight on and, always by road on ski slopes, arrive at Malga Nambino. At the hut turn left on asphalt then right towards Patascoss. After the bridge turn left on a dirt road continuing along the ski slopes. Continue downhill keeping right until reaching the chairlift of the Canalone Miramonti ski slope, where you turn left entering the village then return to Piazza Brenta Alta.
