Trail delle Marmotte

Enduro route that goes from Monte Spinale to the Grostè area, then continues to the Vagliana, Vaglianella and Mondifrà mountain huts.

Enduro route that takes place at altitude above the vegetation with a suggestive passage under Pietra Grande and the Vagliana peak. Ascent with the Spinale cable cars that lead to the Grostè area, then continuing to the Vagliana, Vaglianella and Mondifrà mountain huts.

From piazza Brenta Alta (Madonna di Campiglio) descend right towards piazza Righi, then continue on via Monte Spinale where, at the first roundabout, turn left to reach the Spinale cable car lift. Ascend with a comfortable lift able to carry 2 bikes and their owners. The view from Monte Spinale is priceless: a 360° panorama extending north towards the mountains of Val di Sole and the northern Brenta, east to the Grostè pass and the central Brenta group, south to the Doss del Sabion and the Rendena valley, west to the Adamello-Presanella mountain group, with the Ortles-Cevedale massif in the background. (Follow route no. 967). Follow the dirt road descending towards the northeast along the track; at the first fork keep right where the road flattens out for about 200m, then descends again down to the valley station of the Boch Express chairlift. At the crossroads take the road heading up towards Rif. Graffer, not the one leading to Malga Boch which remains more to the right. Climb about 2 km on a dirt road with a partly rough surface until the Boch refuge. Continue forward towards the lift which must be bypassed on the left side to descend slightly to find the trail connecting to Dosso della Vagliana (La Colm). Take the trail, sometimes very technical, which with ups and downs leads to a pass from which you descend with a technical single trail towards Malga Vagliana. Continue on the dirt road. About 100m after the hut there is a gate: please close it after passing to prevent the grazing animals from escaping. Continue until the left hairpin turn after Malga Vaglianella, where you leave the dirt road to take a mule track heading north through the forest, until you return to a road which with a left hairpin curve bends south to arrive at Malga Mondifrà. Follow the road south which first leads to an old lime kiln (from here follow route no. 963), then to the Grostè cable car parking lot, before which you turn left into the woods to follow the ski run. Cross the big white bridge, then descend left to the square where a dirt road starts on the right passing behind Residence Ambiez. Follow it up to the slope, descend towards the tunnel under the main road, pass through it and shortly after turn left. Continue on the dirt road for about 100m, turn right onto asphalt and descend on a steep road (CAUTION!!!) to the centre of Madonna di Campiglio.
