Monistrol - Monestir de Monserrat - Sant Joan - Sant Jeroni - Monistrol

Record of a hiking trail completed on 12.08.2018 in the Montserrat mountain range. The start and finish of the route were at the train station in Monistrol de Montserrat, with the main goal being the highest peak of the Montserrat range, namely Sant Jeroni. From the monastery via San Joan, where due to distraction during a phone conversation, instead of turning right at the upper cable car station towards Sant Joan, we continued straight towards Sant Magdalena. When I realized my mistake, I decided we would return to the trail via the Jacob's Ladder (Escala de Jacob), but this trail was closed on both ends, so we decided to return to Sant Joan and proceed from there along the planned route.

Course of the hike: We considered taking the train from Olesa to Monistrol at 5:21, but ultimately we probably left an hour later, at 6:29, so we arrived in Monistrol at 6:41. The attached photo, which as you can see is already quite high above Monistrol, was taken at 7:12. We reached Sant Joan on the first attempt at 11:00, and Sant Jeroni at 13:15. At 13:20 we left the summit and rested briefly between 14:35-14:40 on the grounds of the Montserrat monastery. We were at the Monistrol station about 1.5 hours later and returned to Olesa on the 16:40 train. The weather for this hike was great. The heat waves typical there in August with sunny weather were interspersed with clouds on that day. For the route, I took two 2L bottles of drinks (about 3.5 liters in total, as one was not full). Dawid prepared sandwiches in the morning. Since we returned in the afternoon, the lights taken as a precaution on the route were not used at all in Spain.
