Danube Cycle Path from Regensburg to Vienna - based on personal experiences from 2016 and 2017

The Danube Cycle Path is one of the most famous and well-developed cycling routes. Its impressive scenic beauty and well-maintained cycle paths characterize the route.

Additionally, this long-distance cycle route is praised for good signage and is practically worry-free in terms of gastronomy and overnight accommodations. The flat and overall slightly descending route has practically no significant climbs, making it relatively easy even for beginners on multi-day tours.

The Passau-Vienna section is the classic long-distance cycle route and for many represents the start of a long touring career.

I rode the route from Regensburg via Passau to Vienna alone in the summer of 2016 over 3.5 days and can recommend it anytime - a wonderful experience! In 2017, I repeated the tour in a small group.
