Harz: Harzstädte im Dreieck

At the Old Town roundabout of Wernigerode, follow the signposted Holtemme Cycle Route, which runs along the namesake river through the idyllic rural Harz foothills to Halberstadt. In the 1200-year-old bishopric town, the Gothic cathedral with its famous cathedral treasure stands out. South of the town, you reach the Old Blankenburger Heerstraße and follow it into hilly terrain; from there, a connecting cycle path leads to Blankenburg. There, you can visit a monastery, a castle, and the ruins of a fortress. Via a section of the EuroVelo R1, you return to Wernigerode.
