Overview
About this route
This short loop is set in a picturesque environment at the southern end of the Kőszeg Mountains near the Austrian-Hungarian border. It serves as a great addition for more experienced cyclists in the vicinity; at the same time, we also recommend it for families with children and history enthusiasts, as Rohonc (Rechnitz), a city of regional importance since the Middle Ages, is an interesting site. On the EuroVelo 13 – Iron Curtain Trail, at Bozsok, turn off at the sign leading to Rohonc onto Batthyány Ferenc Street, named after the famous Hungarian nobleman of the area. This street takes you to the Austrian-Hungarian border. From here, ride uphill to Rohonc to relax in the charming town—there are cafés and parks worth visiting. From Rohonc, continue via Bahnhofstraße to Schachendorf (Csajta), and then immediately turn left onto Route 89 to reach the border and then the bike path. From here, you can either return to Bozsok via Bucsu on the Iron Curtain route or continue cycling straight through Torony and Sé to Szombathely.

Sibrik-kastĂ©ly, Bozsok Bozsok, RákĂłczi u. 2, 9727 Magyarország +36 94 360 960 47.329950, 16.492089 HU A Sibrik-vár vagy inkább Sibrik-kastĂ©ly egy vadászkastĂ©ly a Szombathelyhez közeli Bozsokon. A közsĂ©g törtĂ©nete szorosan összefĂĽgg a Sibrik Ă©s a Batthyány családok törtĂ©netĂ©vel. A szarvaskendi Ă©s Ăłvári Sibrik család kapcsolata Bozsokkal 1906. augusztus 31-Ă©n Ă©rt vĂ©get, amikor is Sibrik Kálmán, az akkori tulajdonos a kastĂ©lyt Ă©s a birtokot verebi VĂ©gh Gyulának Ă©s felesĂ©gĂ©nek, Wimpfenn Mária grĂłfnĹ‘nek adta el. A várat Vas megye támogatásával, Sedlmayr János Ă©pĂtĂ©sz tervei alapján az 1959–1960-as Ă©vben Ă©pĂttettĂ©k Ăşjjá. Jelenleg a várban panziĂł ĂĽzemel Ă©tteremmel, de turisták is megtekinthetik a kastĂ©lyt. 1984-ben a kastĂ©lyban forgatták a KĂĽlönös házasság cĂmű filmet. EN Sibrik Castle, Bozsok The Sibrik Castle is a hunting-seat in Bozsok, near Szombathely. The story of the settlement is connected to the families Sibrik and Batthyány. There's been a building here since the 15th century, and it was the core for the renaissance castle that was being built here during the 16th and 18th centuries. The connection with the Sibrik family ended in 31 August 1906 when Kálmán Sibrik sold the castle to Gyula VĂ©gh and his wife, countess Mária Wimpfenn. Gyula VĂ©gh was the director of the Museum of Fine Arts. With the support of Vas County and the plans of János Sedlmayr the castle was rebuilt in 1959–1960. Currently there is a pension with a restaurant, but tourists can visit the castle. In 1984 the movie A Strange Wedding was shot here.
