Von Förstern und Fossilien

Inspired by Route 23 from the Rhein-Main Cycling Guide by ADFC:

Circular tour, mostly flat along predominantly well-developed field and forest paths.

 

The tour passes through one of the most wooded areas in the Rhein-Main region.

 

Shortly after Dietzenbach, we reach the first viewpoint: the Bulau. From here, there is a wonderful view of the Odenwald and Spessart.

Passing through Urberach, we arrive at the Thomashütte, a popular excursion spot.

 

After a long stretch through dense forest, we reach Messel. Here, there is the opportunity to visit the museum of the nearby fossil site Grube Messel, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

 

We continue to the lime kiln. The old forester's lodge is now a rustic beer garden with shady spots and a bird park in the middle.

 

Through Offenthal and Götzenhain, we return to Dietzenbach.
