Handbike Rund um den Starnberger See mit dem Handbike

Handbike route, but of course suitable for everyone else as well. Start from Starnberg Nord station. Then head towards Leutstetten and past the Villa Rustica through the moor to Percha. It's best to stay on the cycle path by the road until Allmannshausen and then take Zieglerweg up to the maypole; turn left onto Valentinstraße and, after the farm, turn right onto Seeburgstraße down to the lake. Alternatively, you can go to Berg via Assenbucherstraße to descend to the lake. Anyone who wants to follow the shore from Percha along the bathing area absolutely needs a companion as a handbiker, as there are some steps at the end of the bathing area! If you want to see the Votivkapelle, head into Kempfenhausen via Waldstraße, with a gentler incline to the park (the path is called 'Am Hofgarten'). The really tough ones who want to avoid stairs, take Seestraße down almost at the end of Kempfenhausen. Very scenic, but around the castle park it gets pretty steep! It's a lovely route all the way to Seeshaupt. On the west bank, there are mostly well-rideable sandy grounds, but also some badly washed out sections with quite loose surfaces, so traction with an adaptive bike can be considerably reduced. You can take plenty of breaks and there is a lot to see. Without breaks, it takes about 4 hours. At the end of the Paradies (that's what the bathing area in Feldafing is called), cross the road to the car park and continue following the cycleway signs. Only one loose patch remains. Stay on the road and down to the main street, where I ride on the pavement until the crossing just before the railway bridge, and from there head right along the track down to the lakeside promenade. From there, you're free to choose your route. Riding without a motor, you need good fitness on the west bank. Have fun!
