Overview
About this route
The route connecting attractions in the Třebíč region is 31 kilometers long and is classified as medium difficulty. Cyclists have many options to make the trip more interesting. The route begins in Třebíč at the castle area (49.2169719N, 15.8729744E), where it is possible to visit the exhibitions of the Vysočina Museum and take a look at the Basilica of St. Procopius, which is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Then we ride along the connecting street by the basilica, and after 130 meters the road joins 9th May Street, which we follow to Žerotínovo Square, where we turn right and head through Silent Square to the center of the Jewish Quarter in Třebíč. There it is possible to visit the Rear Synagogue (49.2176778N, 15.8793453E), where in addition to sightseeing, refreshments are available at the tourist information center. The Rear Synagogue was built in 1669 in Renaissance style. The interior painting dates from 1705 to 1707 and depicts a sky full of stars and a sunset. On the women's gallery there is an exhibition related to Jewish traditions and customs. Visitors can also admire a model of the Jewish town.
We continue back to Žerotínovo Square, where after the bridge we turn right and ride upstream along the Svojsík embankment. At Polanka we turn left and take V. Nezval Street through an underpass into the Libušin valley. The destination is Máchovo Pond (49.2107000N, 15.8710519E). Then we continue 3.5 kilometers along the road in the Libušin valley, past the chapel and Jan's mill on cycle path no. 26, which leads to Střítež and then 4 kilometers further to the village of Klučov.
The next stop is in 3.5 km in the nearby village of Dolní Vilémovice, where it is possible to visit the birth house of parachutist Jan Kubiš (49°9'15.583"N, 15°58'34.377"E), which serves not only as a museum and a memorial to Jan Kubiš and Josef Gabčík, but is also a reminder of the heroic act of the Anthropoid group and all war victims.
From Dolní Vilémovice we continue along the road to the village of Valeč, where we join a cycle path around the Bezděkova pond, then connect to cycle route no. 5107, which leads us around the Large Brewery Pond to Dalešice, where the Brewery from the film Postřižiny (49°7'51.836"N, 16°4'49.038"E) is located. Brewing traditions here date back to the 17th century. The brewery became famous in 1980, when director Jiří Menzel filmed the famous Hrabal Postřižiny story there. Today the renovated building houses the Austro-Hungarian Brewing Museum, which also commemorates the famous film. Beer brewed at the Dalešice brewery is made according to the old beer law, which states that only water, malt, hops, and yeast may be used in beer production and that nothing should be added or removed during brewing. The beer can be tasted in the brewery's stylish pub.
From the Dalešice brewery, the bike trip continues 4 kilometers along the road towards Slavětice. Before the village, we turn left and continue 2.5 kilometers on the road, which leads to the dam of the Dalešice reservoir, serving as a pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant. Dalešice Reservoir (49°7'28.558"N, 16°7'18.975"E) was built between 1970 and 1978 on the Jihlava River. An information center is publicly accessible at the power station, and visitors can tour the production facilities and the underground dam.
The Dalešice waterworks are also used for recreational purposes, and those uninterested in the power station can take a ride on the steamship. The Horácko Ship regularly departs and returns to the pier at Kramolín (49°7'44.785"N, 16°7'12.549"E), and it is possible to transport bicycles on the ship, with up to 20 bicycles able to be transported at once without problems. The surroundings of the reservoir from the ship are picturesque, with steep slopes lining the channel, reaching up to 100 meters high in places. The reservoir's attractiveness is increased by the ruins of two medieval castles, Kozlov and Holoubek. Regular boat service runs between five stops (Kramolín–Dalešice–Autokemp Wilsonka–Třesov–Koněšín) from April to October.
