mosel und eifel

First, you descend into the valley towards Cochem, then follow the Moselle River to Bruttig-Fankel and from there climb into the Hunsrück through beautiful, long switchbacks. After a successful ascent, you head back down into the valley, passing the Engelport Monastery. Through the lovely valley, you return to the Moselle and continue on to Hatzenport. From there, you enter the Eifel region through the Schrumpftal valley, which is fairly flat with beautiful scenery. Via Münstermaifeld, you take the bike path (an old railway line) to Mayen, a very nice route but usually busy (skaters and pedestrians :-)). From Mayen, you climb towards Monreal and cross the countryside to Kaisersesch... have fun!
