Od přehrady Olešná až na Hukvaldy

A popular cycling route runs around the Olešná dam on the outskirts of Frydek-Mistek, but it does not overly test physical fitness. Cyclists who have no trouble tackling smaller hills can, for example, head towards Hukvaldy.

From the Olešná dam (49.6641342N, 18.3119786E), cyclists will travel along the cycle route 6003, crossing over the flyover on the D48 motorway and Železná in the direction of Staříč. Before entering the village, they are welcomed by the Okrouhlá observation tower (49.6806231N, 18.2774403E), which is open to the public until the end of September on weekends from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The mast is 55 meters tall, and the tourist observation tower, from which there is a beautiful view of the surroundings, is located at a height of 30 meters. Admission costs ten crowns for interested parties.

After descending towards the D56 motorway to Sviadnov, cyclists will connect to the cycle route 6006. For about a kilometer, they will follow a path that runs parallel to the motorway until they reach the training area in Staříč (49.6990789N, 18.2823264E). The exhibit on modern mining methods is accessible to the public by appointment. The cycle route then goes around the Staříč mine, where black coal is no longer mined, but the remnants of the extraction remain.

About halfway along the route between the Olešná dam and the village of Hukvaldy, cyclists will reach Brušperk, where they can make a detour to the nearby small dam (49.6995844N, 18.2387242E). While it is situated in a nice environment with a view of the nearby mine, swimming there is not recommended.

Through the center of Brušperk, where interested individuals can visit the memorial of the prominent pedagogue and writer Vojtěch Martínka (49.6993231N, 18.2242153E - ) or admire the bourgeois houses in the square, cyclists will follow the same cycle route 6006 to the Ondřejnice River. The easy-going trail up the Ondřejnice river mostly leads around family houses, and at times the bike route brings them out onto the road.

Through Fryčovice and Rychaltice, cyclists will head towards Dolní Sklenov, where the local microbrewery (49.6341575N, 18.2164225E) invites visits. Although it is a bit of a distance to Hukvaldy from here, the final climb along the cycle route and road towards the center of the village will challenge more than a few excursionists. As a reward, in addition to a tasty lunch, there may be relaxation on a bench in the Hukvaldy enclosure, where visitors are welcomed by the statue of the fox Bystrouška (49.6182656N, 18.2258764E) alongside other animals. However, cycling in the enclosure is not permitted.
