Gottschalkenberg

From Sternensee, the route mostly follows gravel paths to Schindelleggi. From there, towards Einsiedeln, we follow a short stretch of the main road until after the large gas station. There we turn right, cross the train tracks, and follow the asphalt road along the edge of the forest to the next intersection. Here, we turn left into the gravel path. At first straight, this path begins to rise continuously and then becomes quite steep for a long time, climbing through the forest on the eastern side of the Höhronens. After about an hour of climbing, we reach the Gottschalkenberg Restaurant. Then the path returns to the forest, and at the next intersection, we go straight on the narrow path, which rises steeply. After a few hundred meters, we have already reached the highest point of this tour (Muetegg; 1210MM). Now we descend on a beautiful path with plenty of flow and speed through the forest towards Gubel. At Fürschwand, we encounter the asphalt road again. Now the route leads over several farms at altitude back towards Finstersee. From there, we take a steep gravel descent down to the Sihl. Cross the bridge and then immediately turn right, following the Sihl towards Hütten. After reaching the bridge, follow the asphalt road up towards Hütten. From Hütten, several paths lead back to Sternensee.
