Rio Sacro

The extraordinary beauty of the places reached makes this route a true milestone for mountain bike enthusiasts! It is a fairly challenging route that reaches significant altitudes. It is therefore advisable to do this route in a group and in stable weather conditions. The best period is from June to October. The route starts from Fiastra and takes the dirt road that climbs Mt. Coglia up to Pian di Pao. The climb is very long (17 km) but does not have overly challenging steep sections. Upon reaching the junction for Casali, continue left towards Fargno and after the first hairpin turn take the gravel road on the left that descends to Casal Gasparri. From here take the obvious trail that goes around the mountain ridge and at the height of the first ravine start the descent. In the first part in the middle of the ravine (about 300 m) the trail is not always obvious; the reference point is the small grove that must be left to the left. After riding along the grove for about 500 m take the trail which becomes increasingly clear and, going into the woods, descends to the valley bottom. From here take the dirt road along the Rio Sacro which will quickly bring you back to the provincial road "Fiastra-Bolognola." Upon arrival in Fiastra you can find numerous rest and refreshment areas.
