Pitigliano-San Quirico-Sorano-Sovana-Pitigliano

Mountain bike route counterclockwise with entry and exit through some Via Cava that need careful examination.

The route starts from the clearing in front of the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie. Head back towards Manciano, then turn right onto the RET trail until the entrance of Via Cava Fratenuti. Before exiting under Pitigliano there's a ford where the track backtracks to reach it via an asphalt road. The ford is generally passable, so continuation is recommended. Once out on the road of Madonna, after a few meters we find Via Cava di Poggio Cani which leads to the entrance of Pitigliano. We climb a staircase, cross the village (with stops at a couple of panoramic points) and arrive in the center. Exit Pitigliano and reach San Quirico, first taking a path of about 4 km then an unpaved road of about 6 km. Now head to Via di Vittozza, an unpaved trail that in about 5 km, passing through Chiesaccia and the rock settlement, brings us to Sorano. We pass by the Masso Leopoldino inside the Fortezza Orsini, exit the center and visit the Via Cava and Necropolis of San Rocco. On secondary and dirt roads we arrive at the Necropolis area of Sovana. We travel along Via Cava di Poggio Prisca then that of San Sebastiano and arrive in the center of Sovana. Head towards Pitigliano on the SP of Sovana, then on Via San Pietro. We find the entrance to Via Cava San Giuseppe which the track does not follow (but it should be bikeable with caution). Returning towards Pitigliano the track makes a detour to see an old mill and the Londini Waterfalls. Back on the SP then on the SR 74, soon we are again at the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie.
