About this route

The Murradweg is considered by experts to be one of the most beautiful river bike paths in the Alps due to its varied landscapes. It starts in the Hohe Tauern National Park and follows the Mur river to its confluence in Croatia. To the north, the mountains with their fragrant alpine meadows and azure-blue lakes provide variety, while to the south, there are fields of corn, the typical oil pumpkins, and extensive floodplain landscapes, from where it is not far to the vineyards. And in between, there are cities like Graz, the culinary capital of Austria and European Capital of Culture in 2003, with its two UNESCO World Heritage sites: the old town and Eggenberg Castle, whose charm is a wonderful complement to the rich natural experiences. The scenic arc along the Murradweg impresses from spring to autumn uniquely, variably, and enjoyably. And the gastronomy is certainly not lacking in the gourmet shop of Austria, as Styria is often called.
