Naturpark MTB Tour 3 Schloßbergtour

Directions

Maulbronn – Schmie – Sternenfels – Hohenklingen – Maulbronn Total ascent 600 m Maulbronn – Sternenfels 20.5 km The tour starts at the monastery in Maulbronn. Following the cycling route signs, take "Gartenstraße" towards Maulbronn West train station. At the cycling route junction, go straight through the valley and opposite, at the intersection, go straight, soon uphill on "Höhenstraße" towards Schmie. At the 4-way cycling route junction (Km 3.0), turn left towards Lienzingen into the farm road. About 500 m ahead, turn left onto K4513, go under the B35 and at the access to the federal road, turn slightly right into the farm road. At the 5-way junction by the orchard (Km 4.5), follow the paved road slightly to the right uphill towards Zaisersweiher. At the end of the vineyard, at the edge of the forest, turn right first onto gravel, then follow the path (blue stripe) downhill. At the 4-way junction, turn left, past the hiking car park (Km 7.2) to L1134. Turn left here and the next right. At the end of the unpaved road (Km 7.6), turn right and soon uphill. At the 4-way junction at the ridge (Km 21.1) turn left, gently downhill past the fountain. At the cycling route junction (Km 10.2), at an acute angle to the left towards Schützingen. Turn left over the tracks (Km 11), along the railway line, then right through the underpass (Km 11.8) and follow the paved road to the main road. Turn right here, about 200 m further at an acute angle to the left onto the farm road and continue straight through the forest. Follow the "Streitwaldweg" towards Sternenfels. At the 5-way junction (Km 14.6) turn right, now on asphalt to and past the hiking lodge Füllmenbacher Hof following the MTB signage to Sternenfels. At the top go straight until the cycling route junction at Km 17.9. There, turn left and follow the wide forest road to the district road. Cross this and slightly left into Schlossbergweg. Follow the wide path to the transformer station. There (Km 19.8), go straight steeply downhill on the path. Pass the wooden gate and continue straight downhill into the center of Sternenfels.

Sternenfels – Maulbronn 12.0 km At the main road intersection below the church go straight down on "Brettener Straße". After about 200 m, turn left into "Schlattweg". At the end of this, enter the forest, turn right at the curve and go along the fish ponds. At Kraichsee (Km 22.5) go slightly left, over the bridge and uphill to the junction "Bei den 7 Buchen". There (Km 23.3) go straight, soon downhill and along Berhardsweiher. At the height of the dam, go straight uphill towards Hohenklingen. Over the ridge and straight down to the hiking car park. There (Km 26.2) to the main road and straight up to the district road at the entrance to the village. Just after the village sign turn right (Km 27) towards Maulbronn. At the farm on the left, up to the forest and follow the forest road through the woods. At the cycling route junction (Km 29.7) at the forest edge, at an acute angle to the left uphill and continue straight on "Knittlinger Steige" over the mountain towards Maulbronn. At the end of the road, turn left and return by the familiar path to the starting point of the tour.
