BOLOGNOLA - AMBRO - FARGNO

From Pintura di Bolognola (ski facilities) you take the gravel road heading towards Fargno. After about 300 meters, you take the gravel road that rises to the left towards Castelmanardo before entering the Ambro Valley and reaching Casal Rinaldi located at the head of the valley. From here, the route continues by taking the path (marked on the maps as No. 227) that climbs up to Forcella Angagnola (steep path, not rideable). Upon reaching the Forcella, a slight descending path (downhill but almost entirely rideable) leads us to Rifugio del Fargno (mandatory stop due to the beauty of the landscape). From here, the return to Bolognola is very simple. Alternatively, one can choose a variant that allows descending to the bottom of the Fargno valley and following the course of the Fiastrone stream. This alternative route begins along the Pintura di Bolognola - Rifugio del Fargno road, and near a spring, one takes the path on the left that descends to the bottom of the valley (path also well visible to the eye). Upon reaching the bottom of the valley, one descends along the stream and in the first section the path is very steep and not rideable (however, the beauty of the place makes this variant very interesting). Approaching the settlement of Bolognola, one resumes the paved provincial road to return to the starting point.
