Terra dei Tiepolo...il Giro del Sindaco

A easy bike ride will lead us to discover the Land of Tiepolo. It is in this territory, in Zianigo, that the famous Venetian painter Giambattista Tiepolo bought a country villa in 1757, where his son Giandomenico painted in freedom subjects and forms without commercial ties. The work "Mondo Novo" is an example; the artist represents the imminent decay of the Serenissima and an already ruined nobility. But there are many other buildings in the area where the two genius painters will leave their mark: the seventeenth-century Villa Bianchini in Zianigo with the fresco "Il Merito e la Fama" celebrating the Angeloni family, then owners of the villa, the parish church of Mirano which hosts the altarpiece "Il Miracolo di Sant'Antonio", a marvelous work by Giambattista Tiepolo, the parish church of Zianigo with the work "San Francesco di Paola e altri Santi" by his son Giandomenico.

Our excursion will continue with a visit to the town of Mirano, an important historical and cultural center of the Land of Tiepolo. We will discover the parks of the seventeenth-century Villa Belvedere and Villa XXV Aprile with the annexes from the nineteenth century of the Castelletto and the caves.
