Starting from Pörtschach, we head along the bike paths towards Velden. In Velden, we weave between Jaguar's, Porsche's, BMW's, Audi's, etc... and after a short climb, we enter a cool forest despite the summer temperatures. Shortly thereafter, we find ourselves in the so-called 'streambed', which requires some technical skill and, especially in the last section, a good deal of strength. After this 'technical part', it's a brief moment to dismount and lift the bikes over the fence of a horse paddock. After that, we ride on easy-going paths through the Schieflinger forest. We proceed to Goritschach, passing by Trattnigteich where shortly after the ascent to the Pyramidenkogel begins. On super paths with wonderful lake views at some spots, we climb up to the Pyramidenkogel, where we take a short break, and after eating a snack and filling our water bottles, the descent on a section of the hiking trail begins, which in some places offers selectivity. After a fast descent to Keutschacher See and a leisurely ride past Rauschelesee, we reach Viktring and shortly thereafter are at the Lend Canal at the southern ring of Klagenfurt. Since the beach volleyball tournament is currently taking place, we follow the music and soon find ourselves right next to the arena among hundreds, or better thousands, of fans. After a short enjoyment of the atmosphere, we get back on the pedals and the majority of the ride back to Pörtschach is on bike paths through Krumpendorf.
