Kammtour Erzgebirge, frei nach resuco

Tried to ride the Kammtour of the Ore Mountains.

Ridden on 12.7.2010 in actually way too hot weather.

Start at the large parking lot in Altenberg. The goal for this first day was Vejprty near Bärenstein.

Route: Altenberg, Kahleberg (magnificent view), Rehefeld, Deutschgeorgenthal, Rauschenbach Dam (no bathing facilities!), Neuhausen (Erzg.), Olbernhau, Rübenau, Satzung, Schmalzgrube, Jöhstadt, Vejprty (Hotel Harlekin, affordable accommodation and very good cuisine).

Recommended for mountain bikes or sturdy trekking bikes as the Kammtour runs over many forest and gravel roads.

The signage is sometimes very good, but sometimes only very rudimentary, making a map indispensable on this route (e.g. KAMMTour by Dr. Barthel publishing).

Since I had luggage, I rode the tour rather leisurely, in just under 6 hours of riding time. One should carry provisions and drinks as the inns along the way are not always open (rest days, off-season, closure).
