This circular route is suitable for moderately enduring touring cyclists who love to enjoy the landscape on less traveled paths, mostly away from main roads. The tour starts and ends at the parking lot at Dattelner Meer (port) near the sports facilities and heads south past the resting harbor, along the Datteln-Hamm Canal, past Waltrop to the Lünen Steag power plant. Passing large industrial plants, the route then goes over the canal and Lippe through idyllic Lippe meadows. Continuing through fields and meadows along the Alstedder Landstraße (bike path) to Bork. From there, it descends via Vinnum to the Lippe and to the Dortmund-Ems Canal (Neue Fahrt). To the right before the currently (8.8.20109 STILL CLOSED) canal underpass, it proceeds to the canal bank of the New Navigation. On the canal dam, the route leads directly back to Datteln harbor.
