From Los Aljamientos Zumeta Valle, we descend towards Las Juntas and then ascend parallel to the Segura River towards the Anchuricas Reservoir. We pass through Las Casicas del Rio Segura heading towards La Toba to complete the journey with breakfast there, as what awaits us is a very long and tough climb on a forest track called 'Despiernacaballos' with gradients over 10% in some sections, culminating at more than 1600 m altitude with stunning views of the Segura valley and the foothills of the Rio Madera. Then we switch onto asphalt heading towards Santiago de la Espada where an exciting 18 km descent awaits us back to the starting point along a paved road with unbeatable views.
