Furka - Grimsel

ITINERARY:

Start from Hospental. (Just after the village there is a nice parking area for cars.)

The road is almost flat until REALP, where the climb towards the FURKA begins. The gradients are steady, between 6 - 9%.

Shortly after the pass is the BELVEDERE, usually crowded with tourists. From here, you can access the glacier with ice caves (for a fee!).

The descent is beautiful and fast, with a good road surface, towards GLETSCH. From here also departs the characteristic steam train climbing the Furka.

The hairpins of the GRIMSEL start. Gradients 8-10%. At the summit, a nice small lake and a bar.

From here optionally starts the detour to the Oberardsee dam, which I did not take.

A remarkable descent towards INNERTKIRCHEN. Beware of some long tunnels, although with a good road surface. I recommend a rear light.
