Enjoy a
beautiful ride on back roads past curtain fig tree to Atherton. Atherton has an
array of gourmet cafes to choose from and is a great morning tea stop. From Atherton to Herberton you will
experience a gradual incline with one last solid climb, followed by an
enjoyable swoop down to the wild river. Herberton is the oldest town on the
Tropical Tablelands. The town sits on a hilly landscape with streets dotted
with jacaranda trees. The town’s
most favourite tourist destination is the Herberton Historic Village, where you
can sit in the schoolhouse or stand at the bar of the pub. Herberton Historic
Village is more than a vintage precinct — it's a tangible buzz of things past.
The collection currently features over 40 original buildings with intact
interior displays, original machinery and vehicles, plus thousands of antique
items and period memorabilia. It is regarded as the most significant ever
assembled in Queensland. The
ride from Herberton to Millaa Millaa offers spectacular views on a clear
day. The road is lined with an
abundance of luscious green dairy pastures and the greenery and rainforest
becomes more abundant as your get closer to Millaa Millaa. The optional last climb to the Millaa
Millaa lookout is worth the effort and rewards you with panoramic views of the
tablelands.
