Stage 3 Part 2 on 09.07.05

 

After crossing the Tour at the Col de la Schlucht, I ride the same day along a part of the crest road Route des Cretes towards Le Markstein and then to the Col du Ballon.

With a stomach ache, I thought about this crest road while planning, and when I finally rode it, I was very glad that I had managed to convince myself to do it.

 

About 3 km before the pass at Ballon d'Alsace, I set up my tent in the evening. Only the next day do I ride without luggage all the way to the top of the pass, where I was cheered by the spectators almost as much as the racers a few hours later.
