Åsarna - Östersund

From Åsarna, the route partly follows bike paths and partly the E 45 towards Svenstavik (KM 15). Although this is the main traffic artery between Gothenburg and Kiruna, traffic is moderate and in some sections marked shoulders of 50 to 75 cm wide are available. In Svenstavik, all food supply options are available. Leaving Svenstavik, at the town's edge, there is the option to ride on a bike path (Sverigeleden) along the Inlandsbanan railway. After 3 km, this path crosses the E 45, and from here you must continue on the E 45 until km 35 to be able to turn towards Hackås and ride down to the Storsjön lake. However, this is only reached at km 43, where a large bridge leads across to Oviken. Just before Östersund, there is a large bridge over the Brunfloviken to cross, after which you arrive at the island of Frösö, from which another bridge leads directly to Östersund. The last kilometers before Östersund, as in many larger cities, have bike paths due to increased traffic volumes. Östersund is a Swedish city with all shopping and accommodation facilities. An STF hostel is located directly on the grounds of Jamtli, a well-known museum village in Sweden. The ride went through forests but for the first time also through agricultural land, which sometimes offered a better overview of the landscape. Overall, a rolling tour, very pleasant to ride and enjoy.
