Meransen zum Stoana Mandl

We start again in Maranza, first riding about 4 km downhill on the main road towards Mühlbach. At a bend, turn right towards Valles. This asphalt road (with little traffic) climbs steadily for about 12 km, partly with a 14% gradient, then becomes flatter – about 370 m of elevation gain up to the Jochtal cable car valley station. We then overcome the next 500 m of elevation with the cable car – large gondolas (free transport of people and bikes thanks to the Almencard). From here, the route continues over gravel and unpaved paths up to the 'Stoana Mandl' – partly a bit challenging to ride, about 100 m of elevation gain over 2 km. At the top, an amazing view of the entire South Tyrol mountain range – breathtaking. The descent back to the mountain station follows the same path; from there, keep right on the forest road towards the Antretter hut – definitely worth stopping there! Then continue on this path towards Wetterkreuz, Spinges, well signposted. Just before Spinges, you get a view of Franzensfeste; turn left here and then go straight in the curve towards the sports field. Passing the sports field and container area, the forest path through the woods leads directly to Mühlbach. We had to go back up to Maranza – feeling lazy, we tackled the approximately 650 m of elevation again by cable car (Almencard – people free, bike 2€).

Once again, we rode more downhill than uphill!
