VOLCAN MOMOTOMBO

Follow the trail until you turn right and reach an area with a wire fence and a hunting prohibited sign. Head right, following the fence. At the end, the fence turns left, but go right and enter an open area, advance a bit, then turn left into a spot where fires are made and plastic bottles are scattered. Cross this area, jump over a fence, and continue straight along the path. After an open area, cross a wooded zone, always straight until you emerge onto a clearing with tall grass. From there, head straight uphill to a flat area with a wooden bench and a lookout called El Hombro (to the left, down in the distance, you can spot the other bench, El Ombligo). From here, white arrows painted on some stones indicate the way to the summit. The terrain is very steep and loose; two poles, an ice axe, and crampons are recommended, especially for the descent.
