SPB: TAPPA 1 LAGO DI CANDIA - CASTELLAZZO

The stage starts from the shores of Lake Candia. It winds through wooded hills offering stunning panoramic views and follows the "coste", the gentle slopes characteristic of this area. The route passes through the Candia Lake Natural Park with its marshes and canals and, climbing the hill between Barone and Mercenasco, through chestnut woods featuring some notable trees, the Lussana spring, the "Castelvecchio" in Montalenghe, the Regional Wine Producers Association of the Province of Turin, and the Spurgazzi Park in Caluso. In Candia, a short detour from the main route leads to the picturesque Church of St. Stephen (11th century), a gem of Canavese Romanesque architecture.
