Akeley-Hackensack-Walker Triangle

Starting at Crow Wing Crest Lodge on 11th Crow Wing Lake in Akeley, Minnesota, this routh follows Highway 64 to the Heartland Trail. From there it cuts south where there Heartland Trail connects to the Paul Bunyan State Trail which winds through the Shingobee Forest and includes grade changes of up to 8%. The route follows the Paul Bunyan State Trail all the way south the Hackensack, Minnesota where it turn and continues north, through the Shingobee Connection across Leech Lake, and all the way to Walker, Minnesota where it connects, once more, to the Heartland Trail. The route continues on the Heartland Trail all the way back to Crow Wing Crest Lodge in Akeley, Minnesota.
