Korte Strade Bianche over de Strabrechtse Heide

Last update: October 27, 2018. The village center of Heeze no longer needs to be crossed as the new unpaved bike path between Rul and Boschlaan has been included in the route (this bike path has been completed since early October 2018). From the parking lot at Keelven, you start a route that goes 43% over unpaved bike paths that are well rideable with a road bike (good puncture-resistant tires such as Continental four-season tires or Schwalbe Marathon Plus and at least 25 mm wide tires are recommended). First, you ride mostly on paved narrow bike paths around Keelven; later the bike path turns into unpaved surface. Via the golf course De Swinkelsche, you cycle past the mill Den Evert. Then you go over paved roads to Lierop and the hamlet Moorsel. Just before Moorsel, you switch back to unpaved bike paths crossing the Strabrechtse Heide and pass many fens (typical of this area), later you ride on unpaved roads and bike paths through the Herbertus forests. Eventually, you come out on the concrete bike path along the Provincial road Heeze-Someren. After some kilometers, you dive back into the Strabrechtse Heide on unpaved bike paths and cycle past the largest fen in the Netherlands (the Beuven). Eventually, you mostly return via paved roads back to the starting point. A longer variant (53 km length) of this route can be found on Strade Bianche Vroolijke Jager and Strabrechtse Heide. An even longer variant (92 km) of this route can be found on Strade Bianche through Weerterbos, Vroolijke Jager, Keelven and Strabrechtse Heide.
